Day 1 >> BANGKOK – FLOATING MARKET – KANCHANABURI (-/L/-) Early morning pick up at your hotel in Bangkok and drive to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, located about 90 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. Then continue to Kanchanaburi province. Board the local train at Takilen and travel along the most exciting part of the “Death Railway”. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Wat Pa Luangta Bua Yannasampanno Forest Monastery, better known as the Tiger Temple. Since its opening in 1994, the monastery gained a reputation as a wildlife sanctuary and by now a countless number of boar, deer, buffaloes, cows, horses, wild goat and gibbons roam around freely. The first tiger cub arrived to the monastery in February 1999 and more followed soon after. One zone of the existing valley is used as a place where tigers are being led for exercise in the afternoon. Visitors are allowed to walk down this valley and observe the tigers roaming freely and closely and can take photographs of them. Transfer to your hotel on the River Kwai, the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Relax at the pool of your hotel (note: our guide will return to Bangkok after check-in at your hotel). Overnight at RIVER KWAI VILLAGE HOTEL.
Day 2 >> KANCHANABURI – THREE PAGODA PASS – SANGKLABURI (B/L/D) After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby. Start an adventurours day with elephant riding and bamboo rafting on the River Kwai. Then proceed to Hellfire Pass Memorial (closed Dec 24-27, Dec 31 & Jan 01). Take a walk downhill for a site visit to glimpse the Death Railway remnants hidden in a scenic location of the River Kwai valley. Continue further north to the uniquely scenic borderland of Sangklaburi, with lunch en route at a local restaurant. Enjoy coffee break at Groeng Grawia Waterfall. Continue to Three Pagodas Pass along the border of Thailand and Burma for a photo stop. Proceed to Sangklaburi town and check in at Ponnatee Resort in the late afternoon. Thai dinner and overnight at PONNATEE RESORT or similar. Day 3 >> SANGKLABURI – KHAO LAEM LAKE – PILOK (B/L/D) After breakfast, take a walk along the Wooden Bridge on Khao Laem Lake, that provides a terrific view of Sangklaburi town and its landscape. Then set off a journey to a Karen village. Experience an ox-cart ride to a local village for a traditional welcoming ceremony. Visit the Mon temple at Wat Wangwiwekaram. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to Ponnatee Resort to freshen up. Check out and enjoy a leisurly boat trip on the magnificent Khao Laem Lake to a floating villages in a scenic location, 15 kms from the town. On the way, make a brief stop at the sunken temple (if the water level is not so high that the temple remnants get entirely flooded). Continue by van to Thong Papoom district. Stop at a local market in Thong Papoom town to observe local lifestyle and if you wish, buy some tropical fruit. Continue to the ethnic village of Pilok in the mountainous area. The mountain and forest scenery along the road is very impressive. Reach Pilok and set off for a journey by 4-wheel drive along a bumpy dirt road for about half an hour to your accommodation, located along a stream. Thai dinner in the cozy athmosphere of a mining warehouse-cum-reception area. Overnight in a simple but nice family-run bamboo lodge with twin bedrooms, hot shower and western style restrooms, overlooking a small but enchanting creek. Day 4 >> PILOK – KANCHANABURI (B/L/-) After breakfast, start a journey by 4-wheel drive truck to the lookout post at the Thai-Burmese border. The views of the mountain ranges are magnificent and rarely visited by foreigners. Stop at a stunnungly bautiful waterfall and enjoy a dip in its turquoise coloured pool. A packed lunch will be provided at the waterfall. Then drive back to Kanchanaburi with a stop at Hindad Hot Srping along the route. Check in and overnight at RIVER KWAI VILLAGE HOTEL. Day 5 >> KANCHANABURI – BANGKOK (B/-/-) Breakfast at your hotel. Our guide will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel at 09:00 AM. Photo stop at the Bridge over the River Kwai and short visit to the war cemetery. Transfer back to your hotel or the airport in Bangkok. Private tour: Daily departure from Chiang Mai with English speaking guide (minimum 2 persons).
