ITINERARY

KUCHING – BATANG AI (-/L/-)

DAY 1 Pick up from Kuching city hotel for a 290-km car ride with en route stops at a pepper farm, the local market in Serian town and also a stop to observe wild orchids and pitcher plants. Lunch will be provided in Lachau, a small upcountry Chinese village. After lunch you will proceed to arrive at the beautiful Batang Ai Lake. Here, you will board a ferry for 30 minutes across the lake to reach the Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort. After checking in, the rest of the day is free at leisure to use the many facilities of the resort.

Overnight at the Hilton Batang Ai Resort.

BATANG AI (B/L/-)

DAY 2 After breakfast at the hotel, in the morning you will board native longboats for about an hour across the lake to reach a native longhouse. The Ibans will sound their gongs and perform their traditional war dance in full ceremonial regalia. Enjoy a traditional and cultural exchange with the Ibans and their families. You will be awed by the communal lifestyle they share in the longhouse. Native lunch in the longhouse. If you wish, you can do a short jungle walk after lunch. Return to Hilton Batang Ai Resort. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at the Hilton Batang Ai Resort.

BATANG AI (B/L/-)

DAY 3 After breakfast, depart for Batang Ai National Park and take a native longboat for about 2 hours across the lake up to the Batang Ai River. On arrival you will proceed on a jungle walk with lunch included. After tour return to the resort. The rest of the day free at leisure.

BATANG AI – KUCHING (B/L/-)

DAY 4 Before breakfast you have the option to take a dawn walk with the residential naturalist (please inform the guide the day before). After breakfast, transfer back across the lake and with the car back to Kuching. Lunch in Lachau is included.

Our package tour prices are inclusive of transportation, English-speaking guide, meals as specified (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), all boat and entrance fees and 3 nights accommodation at Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort and daily breakfast.

Not included are meals not mentioned in program, beverages consumed during meals, optional tours, personal expenditure and video or camera fee imposed by the national park.

Surcharge for pick up / drop off at beach resorts Damai Beach: USD 5 per person (single traveller USD 10)

Notes
All boat transfers and activities in the park and longhouse are on Seat-in-coach basis.

Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on road conditions and availability of rooms.
