Joint tour: Daily departure from Chiang Mai with English speaking guide – minimum 2 persons.

Visitors will have a unique opportunity to explore the hills around the north of Chiang Mai by visiting several hill tribe villages, going down the rapids on a river in inflatable rafts (between mid-March to June bamboo rafts might be used, if water levels are insufficient), trekking through the forest on elephant backs, biking on rural roads and dirt tracks through the jungle and hilly countryside, and walking on steep wooded hills. Overnight stays at the Hmong Lodge with Western comforts and hill tribe atmosphere. The lodge features barbeque / camp – fire dinner and cultural presentations by the Hmong.

ITINERARY

Day 1 > CHIANG MAI - HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE (-/L/D)

Pick up passengers from hotels, airport, railway station and bus terminal in Chiang Mai.

Depart Chiang Mai by 4-WD Land Rover or similar to visit the hill-tribe museum at Mae Rim and a local market at Mae Malai. Then continue to Ban Mae Taman of Mae Tang. Take a one-hour elephant ride through the rainforest, which for most people is an exciting and unforgettable experience and ride on a typical northern ox-cart through rural landscape. After a picnic lunch, embark on inflatable rafts for an adventurous journey down the rapids in the white-water and scenic Mae Tang River for about an hour (During mid-March to June the water levels might be too low and the river-journey will be replaced by a floating down the river on bamboo rafts). Continue by 4-wheel drive to Baan Huey Rai, passing several villages, orchards, valleys and rice fields. Continue uphill via Saluang village to Baan Pang Hai, a simple village situated 850 metres above sea level. Check-in at the HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE, B.B.Q. dinner at the lodge, followed by a presentation of the Hmong dances and songs and overnight..

Day 2 > HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE (B/L/D)

After breakfast, drive to a small village of Baan Teen Doi where you take a short stroll to Mae Pa. Get into action by mountain biking to Baan Palan. Visit a small village reservoir and continue biking to Baan Pong Kwaw, where there is an old temple with beautiful wall paintings. Picnic lunch. Drive by 4WD on mountain roads through Baan Pok, Baan Pang Kwai and Baan Nong Hoi Mai. Then get into action again by trekking or mountain biking from Nong Hoi Mai to Mae Khi village, where you can have coffee or tea in the Hmong's kitchen. Return to HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 > HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE - CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)

After breakfast, depart the lodge by 4-wheel drive. Visit Queen Sirikit’s Botanical Garden and an orchid farm on the way. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant. Visit a snake farm before transfer to your hotel in Chiang Mai or to Chiang Mai Airport.

Our package tour prices are inclusive of transfers and tours by 4-wheel drive Land Rover or similar model, English-speaking guide, rafting, mountain biking and elephant safari, ox-cart riding, baggage handling, entrance fees, meals as specified in the program (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), accommodation in non-air-conditioned room with hot/cold shower at the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge, service charges and VAT.

Not included other meals than mentioned in the program, surcharges for compulsory gala dinners, optional tours, expenditures of personal nature

Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on road conditions and availability of rooms.
