TRIP PROFILE

The roads on day 1 of the Khao Yai Wine Trails are in excellent condition, there are a few ups and downs but generally, the riding is relatively undemanding and requires no technical ability. On day 2 we ride some off road sections and are some steeper ups and downs but can be handled by most people.
We ride as a group, with experienced SpiceRoads cycle guides setting an even pace and stop often to visit points of interest and sample some of the local food. Our support vehicle follows close behind (some sections on day 2 will not have vehicle support – but it will not be far if required) with plenty of water and refreshments.
Our guides are knowledgeable on the local area and customs and explain the history, culture and local way-of-life each time we stop. This trip is suitable for most levels of riders and is an excellent trip for families.

ITINERARY

Day 1 > BANGKOK - KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK (-/L/D)

Pick up at your hotel in Bangkok between 07:30 - 08:00 hrs and van transfer to Khao Yai Park, which covers some 2,168 sq kms and is home to over 2,000 different species of vegetation and more than 300 species of birds and animals. We travel through the park stopping at various view points and we also have a short trek through the jungle to Heo Naraok waterfall before continuing to our resort to check in and enjoy a light lunch. In the afternoon, we ride through patchwork countryside that could almost be France was it not for the banana trees and occasional coconut palm to our first vineyard, Gran Monte and our first wine tasting. Then we continue riding along quiet back roads to Khao Yai winery where we ride through the vineyards before stopping for our second wine tasting as well as a tour of the wine making facilities. After the visit it is a short ride back to our Cabbages & Condoms resort where we spend the night.

Day 2 > KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK - BANGKOK (B/L/-)

After breakfast, we cycle through the valleys, that offer some excellent views of the country side to the Hornbill Restaurant, which is part of the Khao Yai Winery estate, where we will have lunch. We continue to ride quiet roads (or transfer) back to the resort where everyone can freshen up or take a swim before returning to Bangkok via Saraburi (two hour drive).

Total cycling distance on this trip: 60 kilometres.

Our package tour prices are inclusive of transfers in air-conditioned van, accommodation in twin shared rooms with air-condition and bathroom, meals as specified in the program (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), entrance fees, wine tasting, one glass of wine with lunch on day two, drinking water and fruits whilst cycling, bike hire, helmet & spares, English speaking cycle guide, accident insurance, service charges and VAT.

Not included are beverages during meals, travel insurance, other meals as described, personal expenses (phone calls, laundry, souvenirs etc), tips for guide.

Children aged 12- 17 years are welcome on this trip and will receive a 25% discount if sharing a room with their parents.

Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on road conditions and availability of rooms.
