ITINERARY
Day 1 > BANGKOK – PAKKRED – SAMKOK - MENAM NOI (-/L/D)
Morning transfer from your hotel in Bangkok to the Thanatharee rice barge. Depart Bangkok around 08:30hrs to Ko Kred, an isle in the middle of the Chao Phraya River. Explore the Mon pottery-making village on the isle before continuing to lively Pathum Thani market where varieties of fresh meats, vegetables and various local goods are sold. Lunch served on the way. Continue the cruise with a short stop at Wat Pailom, well known as a winter nesting ground of the Asian Openbill Stork which migrates from Northern India and Siberia and then head upriver to the tranquil Maenam Noi, a small branch of the main Chao Phraya River.
Arrive at a village of Maenam Noi at approximately 18:00, tie up for the night and enjoy dinner on board.
Day 2 > MENAM NOI - UTHAI THANI (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast and the opportunity to present food offerings to the monks of the nearby temple. After breakfast, take a cycle ride to explore the villages, then continue crusing to Wat Taku. After lunch on board, arrive at the meeting point, where our bus and guide are waiting for you to continue to Uthai Thani. Visit the unique and amazing Wat Tasung and Crystal Palace. Then board a converted rice barge for a leisurely cruise along the Sakaekrang River. Watch traditional houseboats and the serene life along the riverbanks during the one-hour cruise. You will then have the opportunity to stroll through the busy market along the banks of Sakaekrang River, where freshly cooked delicacies, fruit and vegetable are displayed. Continue to COUNTRY LAKE NATURE LODGE for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 > UTHAI THANI – HUB PHA THAD – BAAN RAI - RIVER KWAI (B/L/D)
After breakfast, drive on country roads to “Hub Pha Thad”, a jungle-like hidden valley with huge palm trees, which can be accessed by climbing a hill and walking through a dark cave. Continue to Ban Rai weaving village, where the local women produce beautiful cloth on wooden looms. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Kanchanaburi province. The scenic 3-hour drive passes through traditional villages and agricultural land with an opportunity to watch the planting or harvesting of rice, pineapples, vegetables and fruit (depending on the season). We will arrive at the Kwai River in the late afternoon; a short boat trip in a typical long-tail boat brings you to tonight’s accommodation, located on the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight at RESOTEL.
Day 4 > RIVER KWAI - BANGKOK (B/L/-)
This morning we will visit a Mon Village by boat, and then return to the resort. The remainder of the morning is at leisure. Either relax or enjoy a traditional and relaxing Thai massage (extra cost) or rent a bicycle to explore the surroundings and nearby Lawa Cave (entrance fee). After lunch at the resort, a short boat trip brings you back to the pier, where our vehicle will be waiting for you.
On our return trip to Bangkok we will stop at the famous Bridge over the River Kwai and the war cemetery in Kanchanaburi - arrival in Bangkok will be in the early evening.
